From the Welcome page to the session: 4 minutes
Total: 7 minutes
Booting directly to the session takes around 4 minutes.

Using a CD-R, with the natty desktop image dated 2011-03-28:
On my 1.73GHz Celeron, it takes 2 minutes, 45 seconds to get to the Try Ubuntu screen. It takes an addition 1 minute to get a useable desktop.
On my 2.8GHz P4, it takes 2 minutes, 28 seconds to get to the Try Ubuntu screen and an additional 58 seconds to get the desktop.
