Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Testcase:
1. start system-config-printer
2. print a test page
3. verify that the scp icon appears on the panel at the left of other system indicators
4. the icon should disappear shortly after the test page has been printed

-------
system-config-printer-applet has not been ported to an appindicator (see bug 588200). In 10.10 and previous releases, the applet shows when a job is sent to the printer and gives the user easy access to pause, cancel, or view print jobs.

Without this, the user would need to open the Dash then open Printing. Right click on the printer and select View Print Queue. That is quite a few steps for something that used to be easy to access.

To fix, add scp-dbus-service to the systray whitelist. There is no regression potential.

Too late for Natty for release. It would need to be considered for SRU. Unsubcribing the release team.

Not deciding for upstream unity but we can't let things broken in default Ubuntu installation and we missed to convert this one so let's whitelist in a sru and port it next cycle

I'm fine with whitelisting system-config-printer-applet for now. The replacement design won't necessarily be an indicator, but we can sort that out later.

It appears that this issue affects Unity 2D as well (in Oneiric at least). New bug or add unity-2d to this one?
