Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
Using the workspace switcher needs two clicks:
1. to set the focus
2. to go into the selected workspace
it would be better and faster if you could only clic once on the desktop you're currently hovering to switch to it

that's the way it works here, hover the mouse at the desktop you want to change, click and it changes. Same thing for Metacity, are you using any special configuration? Is that with Unity?
