Bug Description

Upon examine of several Dojo interfaces that utilize dropdown menus, I've found that the values are ordered by database id value (not very intuitive) rather than some alpha-sorting.

Example:
Acquisitions > My Selection Lists > Copies

We have many "Fund" values in the database. When the dropdown is ordered by ID value, it makes them tough to find. If this were ordered alphabetically it would be simpler to pinpoint a selection if they were sorted more intuitively.

Another case of this is found in Admin > Local Administration > Hold Policies

Is this still an issue? When I go to Aquisitions -> My Selection Lists and click "Reveal Search Form", then select "LID - Fund" - "is", I see a list of funds sorted by fiscal year, then by fund name.

If I'm looking in the wrong place, someone please correct me!

Chris

Hi Chris,

The fund sorting in the search form was fixed with https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1227344.

However, I think Mike was talking about a different place, which appears to still be a problem. Retrieve a specific selection list, click the copies link for one of the lineitems, and then click the fund dropdown. Sorting here appears to be random (probably by id).

Interestingly, when you get to the copies interface from the PO, the funds are sorting appropriately.

I also looked at the Hold Policies and found that several dropdown menus are sorting by ID.

I'm going to move this one back to confirmed, but I also wonder if it would be better to open a separate bug for each dropdown menu that demonstrates this problem since it doesn't happen everywhere. It would make it easier for others to see that the bug has already been submitted if they came across the same problem.

Kathy, I think separate bugs would be a good idea.

Bill Erickson mentioned a fix for this on bug #1266471 (and the fix was originally applied on bug #1227344). The branch below applies that fix to the fund selector in Selection List -> Copies.

I just tested, and that branch also fixes the PO fund selector.
