Bug Description

When the plymouth integration patch for the X server went upstream the option to enable the desired behaviour changed from “-nr” to “-background none”. We currently carry a patch to the X server to re-add the “-nr” option.

The *DMs should be updated to use “-background none” and then we can drop that X server patch.

ubuntu_plymouth.patch in gdm needs to be edited. And looks like the plymouth integration has not made it upstream yet.

This bug was fixed in the package gdm - 3.0.4-0ubuntu5

---------------
gdm (3.0.4-0ubuntu5) oneiric; urgency=low

  * New patch, ubuntu_xresources_is_a_dir, fixes loading of Debian/Ubuntu
    style /etc/X11/Xresources/*.
  * Update ubuntu_plymouth patch to pass -background none to the Xserver
instead of -nr which wont be supported in the future; LP: #806857.

Can't remember which version I fixed this in LightDM, but it's in at least 0.4.4.
