Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

After my network uplink went down (I brought the interface down/up with network-manager, and then clicked through a hotel authentication page), I found xchat-gnome still running, but not redrawing its window. strace showed it in the following loop:

poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=8, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=11, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=12, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=13, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=14, events=POLLIN}, {fd=25, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=21, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 10, 0) = 1
read(21, 0xbfdb9c20, 1) = -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor)
ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0
gettimeofday({1169714687, 705278}, NULL) = 0
poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=8, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=11, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=12, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=13, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=14, events=POLLIN}, {fd=25, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=21, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 10, 0) = 1
read(21, 0xbfdb9c20, 1) = -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor)
ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0

I sent it a SIGSEGV so that apport would collect a core and other information (attached).

Feisty is not supported anymore and there is a newer version of xchat-gnome. Please open a new bug if you still get a crash in a later version of Ubuntu.
