Bug Description
I downloaded and burned herd3 and tried to install it on an IBM Thinkpad X40. I never get farther than the "Loading Linux Kernel" step, although I've seen it freeze on varying percentages (e.g. once after 100% and once after 54%).
I can't tell anything else about what's going on because the machine is frozen for all intents and purposes. However the CDROM drive keeps blinking, though nothing discernable happens to the box. There's no hard disk activity, and the machine does not respond to any keystrokes.

On several releases (including feisty) I've had the boot process appear to freeze, but in most cases it will continue to boot if given enough time: I'm not talking 30 seconds, but sometimes 3+ minutes. Very frustrating and confusing for new users, but it usually resolves itself.
A similar issue occurs on my laptop during first boot, but once booted for the first time the problem disappears.
Perhaps some feedback for the user when it appears frozen?
