I just run "kvm" from a terminal and everything went nuts

Virtualization extensions where disabled form the BIOS. kvm runs fine after enabling them.

Though anyway, kvm should not crash the machine because of that.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and making Ubuntu better.

I can't reproduce this bug on my laptop with 3.0.0-11-generic #18-Ubuntu. I'm going to re-target this to the kernel, as it appears most likely to contain the regression.

The problem went away once I updated the BIOS to the latest one provided by the PC maker.
