gdmchooser breaks gnome-switch-user

Bug Description

Hi,

I configured GDM to show the chooser by default, so I can select the computer I want to connect to. When I connect to the local host Gnome starts and everything works fine. When I use the shutdown menu in Gnome, I'm offered the option "Switch User", which does not work. It brings me back to the gnome-screensaver every time instead of starting a new GDM.

I think this is a flaw per design, because, gdmchooser offers me a network connection to my local host instead of a direct X display, i think? Can it be fixed?

greetings and many thanks for creating and maintaining this wonderful system! ;)

What does running "gdmflexiserver" from the GNOME session do?

I get a dialog which says:

You do not seem to be logged in on the console.
Starting a new login only works correctly on the console.

marking unconfirmed until somebody try to debug that, we have too many bug to work on everything at the moment, opening a bug on bugzilla.gnome.org could be a good idea

Hi there!

Apologies if not posting in the right place!

I (don't know how) set up the gdm chooser and I get the same mistake:

You do not seem to be logged in on the console
Starting a new login only works correctly on the console

I am using Ubuntu Feisty fawn on a Dell inspiron 1501.

If possible i would like to know how to go back to the original configuration
so that i don't have to make use of the "chooser"

Is it possible to disable it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the development version of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron?

Thanks in advance.
