Library does not load in Ubuntu 11.10 due to missing symbols

Bug Description

After upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 some applications using the guichan libraries failed to run. A typical error is as follows.

legacy/legacy: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libguichan_sdl-0.8.1.so.1: undefined symbol: IMG_Load

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu oneiric (development branch)
Release: 11.10

$ apt-cache policy libguichan-sdl-0.8.1

The problem appears to be solved locally with the attached debdiff. Only configure.in and a couple of Makefile.am files are changed, the rest of the files are regenerated.

This doesn't seem to break any packages in the archive, that I can see, so I'll leave this for precise. Please forward this to Debian and upstream.
