Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

Hello,

GNOME's shutdown mechanism could be slightly improved.

1) Start gedit (or any other editor) and modify a document but DO NOT save it.

2) Select System -> Quit from the main menu, and press the Shutdown button.

Now the system will ask if you want to save the unsaved document.
But in many cases the "Save the changes to documents?" dialog stays at background and behind the other windows on the desktop, and it's impossible to select that dialog by using the mouse (eg. by picking it from the toolbar's window list).

One solution is to use the ALT + TAB keys to find the blocking dialog but most of the new users just think that the PC froze.

Even worse: if your unsaved document is not on the _active workspace_ (on the active desktop), then the user must especialmente know to press CNTR + ALT LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS to switch to the right workspace (where the blocking dialog is), otherwise the desktop is blocked and user is baffled.

Solution: When the user hits the Shutdown button and there are unsaved documents, then the system must switch to the same workspace where the "Save changes to documents?" dialog is. And that dialog should always STAY AT THE TOP. And why not allow mouse be active when in Shutdown screen.

Greetings
