Bug Description

Binary package hint: samba

System reports broken install list and the main SAMBA package is identified as the culprit.
Snaptik reports error 102 when trying to update or re-install SAMBA.

System:
Ubuntu 6.10 (Server) running on DELL Laptop (Inspiron 3700 450MHz)

Possible cause:

Was running 6.06 server with no problems.

Decided to go for full upgrade to 6.10 (server)
There was an error during download (file incompatibility), but bypassing that, the upgrade completed and system runs.
However, because the install list file contains a broken package (SAMBA) and am unable to correct this, the system is not running properly.
There is also an apparent error on the USB driver section, though the system does connect via USB/ethernet dongle to router.

Regagrds,
Patrick J Baillie

I have not updated to 6.10, but get the same error.
Package cannot be repaired, nor can it be removed (completely).
