Bug Description
Binary package hint: cupsys
error.log:
[] PID 13288 (/usr/lib/
and cups crashes (stops).
After
/etc/init.d/cupsys start
cups tries to print the file again and crashes again.
affected versions: 1.2.4 (edgy) and 1.2.8 (feisty)
not affected: 1.2.0 and 1.2.2 (dapper)
Even this bug is provoked by a 3rd-party-driver, it's cupsys to blame: 3rd-parties should not be able to rise signal 9.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download the _rpm_ version of the Brother lpr and cupswrapper driver.
http://
http://
2. convert them with alien (don't use --scripts)
3.
ln -s /etc/init.d/cupsys /etc/init.d/cups
ln -s /etc/init.d/cupsys /etc/init.d/lpd
3. install the generated debs
4. install the attached tar-file with the ppd and cups-filter
5. /etc/init.d/cupsys restart
6. Set up a bsd lpd:// printer queue
for Manufacturer:
printer: MFC-5840CN (handmade) or MFC-5840CN (hes) or something similar (can't remember exactly).
7. Send printer test page.
If you have a bsd lpd running, you can downgrade to cupsys 1.2.2 to get a running version, which breaks again at upgrading to 1.2.4 or 1.2.8.
Thanks,h
That's the original versions created by the install scripts, only the filenames changed.
