Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

Hi!

I just tried to install nvidia-glx on my PC. I got "nvidia-glx" & "restricted modules" installed.
I tried to enable the driver with "I@Ubuntu:~$ sudo nvidia-glx-config enable"
The result was that my xorg.cong was changed this way:

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Generic Video Card"
 Driver "nvidia"
 BusID "PCI:0:5:0"
EndSection

The Videocard wasn't properly detected, I had to manualy change the BUSID to PCI:1:0:0 to get the xserver working.

I can confirm this on a Sony VAIO VGN-FE41E (nVidia GeForce Go 7400). My solution was to remove the BusID line altogether.

Confirmed here with GeForce Go 7400 on a Vaio vgn-fe11h.

Driver detection in the installer failed too (I ended up with vesa instead of nv).

Fixed with dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and manual driver selection.
