With cups 1.2.2, present in Dapper, the default CUPS option "BrowseShortNames Yes" does not work. Network printers received by browsing (ipp) are always shown with the "@server" suffix.

This bug was reported at www.cups.org (http://www.cups.org/str.php?L1893). It has been fixed at CUPS subversion repository (1.3-current - SVN: v5835).

This is fixed in Feisty, and does not warrant a stable release update, so closing. Thank you!

Uops!!!

Of course it was fixed in Feisty. But it's necessary to fix in Dapper either. What about "Long Term Support"?

We use Dapper here, and don't want to move to Feisty for a while.

So, it's necessary to reopen, and apply a patch to cupsys 1.2.2, shipped with Dapper.

Thank you.
