Bug Description

Well that's about it. The icon-theme is deprecated and should be replaced by a symlink to elementary-xfce-dark (which is the replacement-theme).
elementaryXubuntu won't even work in its current state because it inherits icons from elementary-icon-theme, which has dropped many symlinks. To make it usable it would have to at least inherit elementary-xfce. But really, I think a symlink makes more sense.

This bug was fixed in the package xubuntu-artwork - 12.04.3

---------------
xubuntu-artwork (12.04.3) precise; urgency=low

  * Fix symbolic icons in elementary-xfce. lp: #939488
  * Let elementaryXubuntu inherit from elementary-xfce-dark so people upgrading
from previous releases don't get dark icons on a dark panel. lp: #936655
  * Update the background image of the plymouth theme, it was still using the
    oneiric one.
