Bug Description

The "Stripes" wall paper has been removed from the kde-workspace-data package.
It was present in version 4.8.0b-0ubuntu1~oneiric1~ppa2 but is removed in version 4.8.0b-0ubuntu1~oneiric1~ppa3.

From this page, it appears to be a voluntary change:

There is propably good reason for this change but, could this wallpaper be added to another package ? kde-wallpapers for example ?

Wouldn't it be a better idea to add Stripes to the kde-wallpaper package and add support for all resolution provided by the author instead of this single stripes.png file ?

Take that up with the kde artwork team by filing a bug against the kde-wallpapers component at http://bugs.kde.org as this is about what I can do in kubuntu.

FWIW, this is not kde artwork in particular. This thing is only there because the KDM maintainer got annoyed with kde artwork changing defaults around.

Also I do dislike this thing being in the extra package. There is only *one* resolution of this wallpaper making for bad appearance of a default wallpaper when the ratio does not match the screen ratio (not to mention upscaling).

Hopefully when the image size limitations go away we can just go back to placing all the kde-workspace artwork in the same package.

stripes was removed because it technically does not belong there to begin with (upstream ossi even told me so ;))
