'Take a photo' preview pane not showing live preview

Bug Description
The 'Take a photo' preview pane appears as empty to begin with. Clicking 'Take photo' will take a photo succesfully, so the webcam hardware is not dysfunctional. It then shows the photo below the preview pane (where it is supposed to go) and in the preview pane itself. There is never any live preview.
