feisty-7.04 server cd does not boot with kvm or qemu

feisty-7.04 server cd
kvm included in this version
and kvm-18
Core2 Duo with VT on

a) When trying to boot from the feisty-7.04 server cd with kvm this results in a crash.

b) I tried to use qemu instead of kvm at least to get a system installed.
    The Installer is booting from cd, but then it cannot mount the cd as installation medium

Testing: The same procedure worked fine with the edgy server cd.
