does not offer driver for GeForce 6800

Please upgrade your system to the latest packages (including restricted-manager 0.13) and check again. I just updated the lists of supported devices to match kernel 2.6.20-13. Thank you!

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, with a GeForce 6200 (Asus brand).

At first I thought that restricted manager didn't want to bother me with the driver I already installed, or didn't want to touch a customized xorg.conf ; so I tried to revert to a "debconf-made" xorg.conf, , removed nvidia-glx, etc etc but it didn't help (I know, it may seem a strange idea... Don't ask :) ).

Then I checked further in the scripts and on the forums and I realized that according to r-m's database, my card is indeed supported by proprietary drivers, and the nvidia driver should be listed in r-m's window.

Here's the output of lspci :

raph@arche:~$ lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1)

raph@arche:~$ lspci -n | grep 0300
01:00.0 0300: 10de:0221 (rev a1)

This "10de:0221" card is indeed listed, in "/usr/share/restricted-manager/modalias_override/nvidia" as well as in "/var/cache/restricted-manager/2.6.20-13-generic.restricted" (as "pci:v000010DEd00000221sv*sd*bc03sc*i*" if I'm correct).

No matter what, "gksu restricted-manager -C" keeps saying "nvidia hardware not available".

Any idea ?

Raph, this is not exactly the same problem (you have a different graphic card, see bug title). BTW, latest restricted-manager now uses xorg.conf directly, so you do not need the dpkg-reconfigure dance any more. If you start 'sudo restricted-manager' from a terminal, are there any messages? Please copy&paste them here.

If it still does not work for you, please give me the output of

  lspci -n | grep 0300
  modinfo nvidia

i have a 6600 with the same problem:
