Bug Description

The squid package includes /etc/logrotate.d/squid which then fails daily as there is no squid binary. For example:

/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
logrotate_script: 2: logrotate_script: /usr/sbin/squid: not found
error: error running shared postrotate script for '/var/log/squid-deb-proxy/*.log '
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate exited with return code 1

I don't think /etc/logrotate.d/squid should be included in the package anymore.

Hi Brian

I've tried to reproduce this on a fresh precise install but I don't actually get this file - I do get /etc/logrotate.d/squid3.

Was this on a fresh install or an upgrade? I am of course assuming this was on precise.

Marking 'Incomplete' for the moment.

Changed in squid3 (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

This is on a system I upgraded from Lucid to Precise. Keep in mind I'm talking about the squid binary package not squid3.

bdmurray@bizarro:~$ dpkg -S /etc/logrotate.d/squid
squid: /etc/logrotate.d/squid
bdmurray@bizarro:~$ dpkg -S /etc/logrotate.d/squid3
squid3: /etc/logrotate.d/squid3

This seems to have been fixed in an earlier squid release.
