Looks like a more general issue:

Installing new version of config file /etc/bluetooth/main.conf ...

runlevel:/var/run/utmp: No such file or directory
reload: Unknown instance:
invoke-rc.d: initscript udev, action "reload" failed.
runlevel:/var/run/utmp: No such file or directory
start: Job failed to start
invoke-rc.d: initscript bluetooth, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing bluez (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Setting up winbind (2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2) ...
runlevel:/var/run/utmp: No such file or directory
 * Starting the Winbind daemon winbind
[fail]
invoke-rc.d: initscript winbind, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing winbind (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Specifically:

runlevel:/var/run/utmp: No such file or directory

Please could you check whether this directory exists on you installation by running the following command:

  ls -lrt /var/run/utmp

Thanks

Digging a bit further I don't think the lack of /var/run/utmp is the issue - I can start winbind on a fresh 12.04 install without this present.

Please could you attach any log files present in /var/log/samba to this bug report please.

Thanks
