Bug Description

I did not think they had linux drivers for this device but they do.

here is my laptop https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/Lenovo3000N100

here is a link describing the procedure to get the reader working in linux and gnome. wouldn't it be great to be the first distro to have support for this device out of the box.

http://www.upek.com/support/dl_linux_bsp.asp Is horribly non-free, so
this cannot be done.

I am not a lawyer, but my interpretation of the license was that needed
parts aren't redistributable. I'd love to be proven incorrect. You may
want to start a discussion on the sounder mailinglist.

There is lots of free source code available for the fingerprint reader of the lenovo.

I think the only problem is the problem with these US export laws, or how they called.

I have a working fingerprint sensor here.

Sure it did not work.

!!!
A Lenovo 3000 N100 is NO IBM and NO ThinkPad.
!!!

But there are AuthenTec Drivers available.
And it works.
I will post a HowTo link there as soon as I finished it.
