Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Specifying more than 1 copies in the print dialog has no effect, only a single copy is printed regardless. I suspect this to be an issue with the new GTK print dialog?

Oddly enough, I did a bug search for "evince print" and found nothing relevant? This happens often please excuse the duplicate (not my fault)...

No problem for the duplicate, the launchpad search interface is known to be not really good at the moment

I don't think this is a duplicate.
I'm using Feisty 7.04 beta. Evince 0.8.1.
As in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/67164 printing muliple pages on one sheet is now working.
What still don't work is printing multiple copies of a single page.
Setting "Copies" value to >=2 print no more than 1 sheet.
Excuse me for my bad eglish. Hope you understand.

I've found that it is an issue only with .PS documents.
I'm unable to print multiple copies of PostScript files, converting this to pdf ,for example with Scribus resolve the problem.
So I did some tests and found that some PDF files are instead PS files (looked in file info).

Reported here too:

This is clearly no duplicate of bug #67164.
The bug has been confirmed upstream (see bug watch).

This is also the case with documents from OpenOffice.org. If I try to print multiple copies from writer, it prints what is set in the printer-settings from 'system-admin-printing'. I will make a separate bug for this, because it does not seem to be due to evince, but more of a common Gnome-print problem.

I've opened a pdf document and clicked on print , I choose to print 2..3..4...(>1) copies of this single page document.
Despite of the number of copies I've selected only one sheet is printed!
As I previously explained thisd bug is not happening with all files, but only with PostScript files.
In this case the document infos reports "PS-Adobe-3.0" as format.

Maybe you should check that the new package has been compiled with support for libspectre as stated in upstream fix. http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443859#c8

Well... I'm talking about a PostScript file ("PS-Adobe-3.0"). ATM I have NO issue with PDF files.
I'm not the first reporter of this bug and I can't be sure that it's only related to PS files.
Do I have to change the title to "Cannot print multiple copies of PS files"?

I can't publish this document here, can I send it directly to you?

don't reopen a closed bug if you have a different issue, that was was about pdf printing, you should open your bug directly on bugzilla.gnome.org

I think you didn't understand the problem.
The upstream bug that is linked to this is reported by me, and it tals about postscript documents.
What I said is that I am not sure that this bug is only related to PS documents.
In my case it is, but if you read the upstream bug you can understand that for other people the problem is with PDFs.
Unfortunately, some files downloaded from the web with .pdf extension are in reality .ps .
So it is difficult to say whether these are two different bugs or not.

In each case the alert was made upstream so if you can leave the bug closed. I'll wait for some answers on gnome bugzilla.

Still happens with evince 2.30.3-0ubuntu1.2.
I can select copies >1 and it still prints one copy instead of the given copies.
System is running fully updated Lucid.

I found this "interesting" work-around.
If I select multiple copies and select "collate" it works.
Freaky workaround but it works for me now....
