Incorrect date layout

That's a gnome-panel translation issue, reassigning

same here. It's curious that the date layout has been ok since I use dapper (flight 4) and "breaks" when the final release comes out :P

I'll bet it was in English until yesterday. After all, it just said May didn't it? Er... I don't remember which language the day of the week was, anyway.

It's not a translation error

Something is wrong here...
Spanish have:
msgid "%a %b %e"
msgstr "%a %e de %b"

And from the strftime manpage:

%a The abbreviated weekday name according to the current locale.
%b The abbreviated month name according to the current locale.
%e Like %d, the day of the month as a decimal number, but a leading zero is replaced by a space. (SU)

That means that in English it will show:

Thu Jun 1

And Spanish will show:

Jue 1 de Jun

but the panel shows:

Jue Jun de 1

That's something wrong with the locale data... would be a bug with belocs?

The problem is in the es_ES locale.

The "es" template is correct, but the es_ES has that error.

Someone translated gnome-panel-2.0 template incorrectly in es_ES. The "es" template is correct, but es_ES has priority over "es":

es_ES:es:en_GB:en

By the way: I just cleaned the gnome-panel-2.0 template in es_ES (now it has no translated strings), so the problem must disappear in the next langpacks updates (the next month?).

Carlos: can you disintegrate all the templates from es_ES locale in Rosetta? IMO, the es_ES locale only brings problems.

Or, at least, make sure that gnome-panel-2.0 template is deleted completely from es_ES locale. The template now has a translated string, but I can't delete that translation (Rosetta refuses to delete it, I don't know why):

Yes, we can do that, but you need first to migrate all translations from 'es_ES' to 'es' so no translations are lost.

After that, send me an email and I will request a removal of es_ES pofiles.

Take into account that there are some situations, that the es_ES should be there to handle things like numeric values or time values that are specific for Spain and are not shared with other Spanish countries. (Those are really bugs in applications, they should be using other locale information to generate them, instead of mark them to be translated).
