Bug Description

Description:
The RSS posts returned for a feeds update in an unexpected amnner when limited.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Start lifrea .
2. Go to Program -> Preferences.
3. Set the Default number of items per feed to save to 15.
4. Click Close.
5. Click on the New Feed button.
6. In the source box type http://www.livejournal.com/users/kernelslacker/data/rss .
7. Click OK.
8. When the Subscription Properties window appears click OK.
9. Click on the first two entries so that they are no longer bold (in my case these were ipaq and Neuros).
10. Press the right mouse button over "davej's recollection of stuff that happened." at the left and choose Mark All As Read.
11. Press the right mouse button over "davej's recollection of stuff that happened." at the left and choose Update.

Expected result:
List to remain unchanged after step 11 because there were no new entries.

Actual result:
List changes and entries marked as read are suddenly marked as unread.

Additional Information:
Continually updating seems to make the list change in an unusual fashion.

Thanks for the report.

Do you still get this issue? If so, what version of the liferea package are you using?

Yes this still happens with a post dapper flight 3 install. The version of lifrea I have is liferea 1.0.4-1ubuntu2 .

I sent this to the mailing list where I was told this is a feature not a bug: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=14071157 It's a pretty nasty feature though - I was limiting the cache so the top X newest posts are kept and the rest thrown away so things are manageable on feeds with lots of items.

Manually setting back to unconfirmed (shouldn't this happen when I reply?).

If upstream considers it a feature, it's very likely that they aren't going to change it. Would you like the bug to be closed or are you still interested in pursuing it with Ubuntu?

There's a slim chance something will change in the 1.1 release of liferea as mentioned on the mailing list (if only sourceforge's threading wasn't so bad...):

Hey Sitsofe.

Could you confirm if you have this issue with 1.2.4?

It may be resolved.

Thanks
Pochu

Edgy doesn't appear to have 1.2.4 in it. If someone can ping me when Feisty is a month from release then I will retest then.

However the steps to reproduce this problem are very clear so feel free to resolve this if the steps do not show the problem for you.
