Bug Description

prelink corrupts /lib/ld-2.3.6.so on ubuntu dapper drake (i386). If you run /lib/ld-2.3.6.so it gets killed immediately. You have to reinstall the libc6 package. This seems to be a CRITICAL bug! It affects update-initramfs so that the generated initrd is unusable! You can't boot anymore!

Thanks for the report.

What version of the prelink package are you using? Can anyone else reproduce this?

Yes, I was getting the problem described in bug #31347, using prelink and the -686 kernel packages from flight 4. Removing prelink and reinstalling linux-image-...-686 and initramfs-tools fixed it.

Looks like the same problem occurs on Breezy/5.10 with /lib/ld-2.3.5.so

Problems experienced running wine, bugged here:

Can't confirm that ld-2.3.5.so was broken, however removing prelinking & reinstalling kernel-image-686 and initramfs-tools has resolved the problem.
