Asked by Paul T Barton

After setup, Evolution does not ask for password, ever.

What other email package is available for use?

Other mail client packages available with Ubuntu include:

mozilla-thunderbird
kmail
sylpheed-claws

The issue with Evolution is possibly fixable. One possible solution may be this:

In Evolution, go to Edit | Preferences | Mail Accounts and select the account you are using. Then click Edit and go to the Receiving Email tab. Uncheck the 'Remember password' checkbox.

Thanks

I can't seem to find the "KMail" on the "Add Applications" list.
I've used it before and it works. (Kanotix).

Hmmm, tried that, no go.
Even tried deleting all accounts and re-entering it, still no go.

If KMail isn't in Add Applications, go to System | Administration | Synaptic Package Manager and search for 'kmail'. You should be able to install it from there.

Thanks

Phil,

Yes, looked familiar. Installed KMail.
It won't start pop; refuses. Grrr.

Thanks,
Paul

KMail: "Could not start process pop3" red-X msg window.
Evolution: It opens the upload/download email thermometer progress window then
times out.

Hmmm, you may have run into a bug. Could you report this issue in Malone please?

https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/kdepim/+filebug

Just descibe the issue fully, and include the exact text of any error messages, what version of kmail you're running etc. Hopefully from there someone might have some ideas about fixing the problem. It may also be useful to run kmail from a terminal and copy any error text you get there into the bug too.

If you could contact me with the bug ID if you file it, I'll happily look out for it for you.

Thanks

Phil,

I'm guessing at # 34008.
Unforchunately, the title has a double-negative
which was not planned.

That looks fine. I've changed the title and left a comment for you.

Please provide as much information on the bug as you can, then someone can hopefully find out what's wrong and fix it.

Thanks again!

Phil
