Up-to-date versions for portable installation supporting many Linux distributions can be downloaded directly from the FreeFileSync homepage, with no manual compilation necessary:
|| Local Installation ||
Launch the terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:freefilesyn
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install freefilesync
That's it. FreeFileSync can now be started from the Unity Dash.
