Galacticus v0.9.1 released

Galacticus v0.9.1 is now released. This branch is now the stable branch and the focus of development moves to v0.9.2. v0.9.1 sees significant improvements in robustness plus a few extra features (support for non-cold dark matter and improved treatment of black hole/AGN physics).

Bug fix for virial density contrast

A bug was found in the calculation of the spherical collapse of top-hat perturbations in cosmologies with non-zero cosmological constant, causing the density contrast to be underestimated. The linked update fixes this issue (also fixed in the v0.9.1 branch).

Bug fix for low mass halos

The latest revision to Galacticus v0.9.0 (also in v0.9.1) fixes a bug in the treatment of gas in low mass halos. Typically, Galacticus allows you to specify a velocity scale below which halos are assumed to be unable to accrete gas after the Universe has been reionized. This "unaccreted" gas should be made available to larger halos which form later, but was being lost in the calculation. This problem would effectively reduce the amount of gas available to form galaxies as the resolution of merger trees was increased. It should only have had a significant effect on results if the critical velocity scale for accretion corresponded to halo masses larger than the minimal mass resolved in merger trees. (For default parameters in Galacticus this bug would therefore not have had a significant effect.)

Bug fix in v0.9.0

Just fixed a bug in v0.9.0 of Galacticus (also in v0.9.1) which caused the rate of change of the mean density of halos (used in various calculations relating to halo growth) to be erroneously set to zero. The bug doesn't appear to have had a big effect on results, but more tests are being carried out to check this.

Bug fix for half mass radii unit conversions

Revision 643 fixes a bug in Galacticus v0.9.1 (also fixed in v0.9.0 with revision 558) which caused the half mass radii of halos read in from merger tree files to not be converted to Galacticus' internal unit system. If you've used half mass radii that were stored in units of anything other than physical Mpc, then this bug may have affected results (most likely it would have caused an error to be reported, but there are possible cases where models would have run to completion but would give incorrect results).
