GtkVD provides both a GTK+ and a terminal interface to search the online Van Dale Dutch dictionary. GtkVD integrates nicely into your desktop and is extremely easy to use. Use it to quickly check the spelling or the meaning of a word, or lose hours of productivity and enrich your Dutch vocabulary.

GtkVD uses a modified version of the BeautifulSoup HTML parser to get relevant data from the Van Dale website. This information is stored in various classes in the VanDale.py module, which is hosted in a separate branch, allowing easy distribution for use in other projects. The parsed data is presented to the user via a GUI written with pyGTK, although there is a terminal option available which prints the results to the terminal instead of showing a graphical user interface.
