Ruby on Rails uses Prototype and Scriptaculous for Javascript-based manipulations in Rails. Prototype and Scriptaculous are well-integrated into Rails, but they a substantial footprint. jQuery, on the other hand, has an extremely small footprint (around 10k).

Interface, a jQuery plugin, provides the most important Scriptaculous features for just another 10k.

The goal of this project is to create production-ready code that integrates into Rails as a complete replacement for Prototype and Scriptaculous.
