This project is about facilitating communication between people who do not share a common language. A collection of sentences is encoded, each one as a single Unicode character. At present, a Private Use Area encoding is used. Plane 15 is used so that any software produced will be more easily converted should the sentences at some time in the future become encoded in regular Unicode, as any such encoding would not be in plane 0.

The following thread is a good introduction as to what has happened prior to this project being started in the Launchpad webspace. There are also links to posts in the Unicode Public Email List.

As a result of posting in the Unicode Public Email List there has been some private email correspondence with some people who saw the posts there. One of the email correspondents told me about Launchpad.
