New Nightshade Website

Written for Nightshade Legacy by Rob Spearman on 2012-10-08

The Nightshade simulator project now has a new website design which should allow much easier interaction and participation with the project. We have consolidated three websites into one to streamline project management and make the full development process open.

Issue tracking, feature requests, news updates, documentation, source code, and downloads are all now accessible in one place. New items include a roadmap of features and our release schedule, as well as a new forum feature where anyone can easily participate.

Discovery Dome sponsoring warping feature for Nightshade 12

Written for Nightshade Legacy by Rob Spearman on 2012-09-11

Discovery Dome (http://e-planetarium.com) has agreed to sponsor the development of a warping feature for Nightshade 12. Nightshade 12 is a complete rewrite of Nightshade being undertaken by Digitalis Education Solutions, Inc. This sponsorship will allow continued use of Nightshade with spherical mirror type projection systems, like those sold by Discovery Dome.

An initial preview release of Nightshade 12 will be released in November. A few more preview releases will follow, with a final feature-complete version estimated for release in July, 2013. A development roadmap with more detail will be posted in the next few weeks.

Nightshade: IPS update and specifications help needed

Written for Nightshade Legacy by Rob Spearman on 2012-07-30

It was great to connect with everyone at the International Planetarium Society conference in Baton Rouge last week. We showed off a short video preview of some of the features coming with Nightshade 12 later this year.

We are currently looking for feedback on a specification for warping (as used by spherical mirror systems, for example) written by Paul Bourke. If you want to provide input, please see:
