14.01 release from the trunk series released

Release information
Release notes:

Note that the Microfiber 14.01 client SSL configuration will only connect to servers that have enabled perfect forward secrecy (which Dmedia 14.01 does).

So this means that Dmedia/Novacut 14.01 (and later) clients can't connect to Dmedia/Novacut 13.12 (and earlier) servers; for details, see:

    https://launchpad.net/dmedia/trunk/14.01

13.12 release from the trunk series released

Release information
Release notes:

No change other than some small packaging changes needed during the Python 3.3 to Python 3.4 transition in Ubuntu Trusty (the development version, which will be released as Ubuntu 14.04 in April 2014).

13.11 release from the trunk series released

Release information
Release notes:

Changes:

 * Made thumbnailer a bit snappier by passing the Dmedia env to it via stdin (avoids DBus call to get env)

 * Switched thumbnailer ffvideoscale method to sincr as it does a bit better job at preserving detail, producing a sharp image

13.10 release from the trunk series released

Release information
Release notes:

As the x264enc quality mode just really doesn't work the way I hoped, switched to 8192 kbit/sec CBR encoding. As a result, you'll now get very high quality 1080p renders (whereas before the quality was just so-so).

Note that on Saucy currently you'll get a segfault when you try to render with Novacut, which will be fixed as soon as this moves from saucy-proposed into saucy-updates:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/x264/+bug/1241772

This is also the first stable release of the Novacut components for Trusty, although no manual testing has been done on Trusty yet, so YMMV.

13.08 release from the trunk series released

Release information
Release notes:

No change, just a version and dependency bump.

Note: we're moving to CouchDB 1.4.0 whether or not it gets into Saucy proper, but it's better for us if it *is* in Saucy proper, so please help us test!

Another note: Dmedia has NOT earned its "production ready" wings yet, so please treat this release with the usual caution. Test Dmedia, give us feedback, but don't trust your data to it... yet.

13.05 release from the trunk series released

Release information
Release notes:

In step with Dmedia 13.05, this Novacut release uses the V1 schema and hashing protocol. Because of the change from Base32 to Dbase32 encoding, we cannot support V0 alongside V1. To upgrade your existing V0 library to V1, open a terminal and run:

  novacut-v0-v1-upgrade

Please see this video tutorial on doing the upgrade:

  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOyEIab0E-U

This was a good opportunity to upgrade to the newer Novacut schema from the gst-1.0 branch. The key schema changes which UI designers should be aware of are:

1) Use the "video/slice" node type instead of the "slice" node type:

    {
        "_id": "54ULLOH3SQQYWSYH3C4LCK37",
        "audio": [],
        "node": {
            "src": "SWG9VVS84RJ344XS9GVTEDIQGUANOHTKPGV5TDXTXD94DKD4",
            "start": 24,
          ...

13.04 release from the trunk series released

Release information
Release notes:

* Ported to new Dmedia.Resolve() dbus API

* Using Dmedia.Resolve() in places where the (now removed) Dmedia.ResolveURI() dbus method was used

* Pending V0 => V1 migration, import `random_id()` from `dbase32.rfc3548` instead of `microfiber`
