From Jeff: When the HL7 channel is opened, the HLCSFAIL is set to true by default. It's only cleared when a message successfully comes through. That means that when the channel has been shut down and no messages have been processed the channel will go into an "Openfail" state. (Cache works the same way.) This has caused consternation at the customer site. The added line looks to see if the channel was put down into a shutdown state, and if so, closes the socket and puts the channel in a "Shutdown" state. If the channel is in a truly failed state, I don't know if this is the correct status. Overall, though, I would say that this is a good change.

RPM packages were created on CentOS 5. If you're upgrading, you should download the fis-gtm-5.3003 RPM and the corresponding openvista-libs-5.3003 RPM, then upgrade both using "rpm -Uvh". You can optionally install the 5.3004 RPMs also; any new OpenVista instances you create will use the newer version of GT.M. Corrections to packages and scripts were made to get everything building and running on x86_64. The amount of configured lock space was changed from 40 pages to 400 pages to accommodate larger, lock-intensive workloads. If you are upgrading, existing database files and global directory files in /opt/openvista will be re-configured automatically. A bug preventing tied account users from accessing programmer mode was fixed. Support for GT.M 5.3-004 was added.

This release fixes a critical bug in ovbackup.

RPM packages were created on CentOS 5. KIDS builds were created against latest OpenVista Server 1.5 SP1. If you are upgrading from the previous beta release, the KIDS build does not need to be updated. If you are upgrading from an earlier release, be sure to re-run ^ZTMGRSET and ^ZUSET after installing the KIDS build.
