Monasca has been a project developed by HP, rackspace, IBM and few other companies and used as monitoring service for OpenStack past few years. The original implementation was using both Python and Java. This new project adopted the original monasca API and architecture, implemented using only java and a new back end in ElasticSearch and added many new functions to eliminate few major issues such as data purge, middleware insertion. It uses microservices through out its implementation, new functions can be added very easily.
