rapit-get (an apt-get alternative) increases package installation speed by parallelizing downloading with removing, installing and upgrading of packages.
I experienced rapit-get to be more than 40% faster than apt-get. With a better internet connection, it would yet be faster.

rapit-get builds an dependency tree and automatically unpacks and installs the first packages while downloading the next ones, in a way that all dependencies are met. Furthermore it uses aria2 as a download manager to download from several sources and several connections per server. Both techniques increase package installation speed.
rapit-get supports the commands 'download', 'install' and 'upgrade', all other commands (like 'remove', 'update') are forwarded to apt-get.

Just try it out and let me know your experiences. Feel free to comment on the app or to ask questions.
Thank you very much!
