Refactor Swift to allow alternative hashing services for OpenStack Object Storage (swift)
There are a number of proposals to extend/modify swift to incorporate other filesystems (ceph, gluster, HDFS, etc). In order to support this, as well as multi-tier storage SLAs, we could refactor the hashing logic to be a standalone, pluggable component or service.
