SSHed is designed to allow you to edit your files on a remote machine over SSH using your local text editor. While that's already possible with sftp, SSHed was designed to be a drop-in replacement for your editor command on the remote machine. This is convenient because it doesn't require re-finding the file in the editor's file browser and can be used in the EDITOR environment variable, allowing programs such as sudoedit to seamlessly open your local text editor.
