This font family is made from Ubuntu Font Family to workaround a font rendering issue in Java Swing applications such as NetBeans IDE, IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm.

You can install the font by copying *.ttf files into ~/.local/share/fonts/ or by opening those with Font Viewer (gnome-font-viewer). You can use it by specifying "Ubuntu Mono Nohinting" in code editors' configuration.

You might want to change anti-aliasing option from "lcd" to "on" especially on light background color. For example, PyCharm:

You don't need to patch anything to OpenJDK.
