Bug Description

I am on a laptop asus AV6 with ATI X700.
I try the live-cd in console mode, i mean i removed quiet and splash and put 1 instead ...
I try with acpi=off -> the boot is faster ....
my problem is when i arrive to step battery state and something like ".... local.rc" -> THE SCREEN TURNS OFF :( ! I try in graphic safe mode it's the same thing ... with vga=771 too..it doesn't work ! i don't know how to get more informations about the system .... how i can stop the boot..... and check var.log and other log messages.

thx, linuxboy...

This is a pretty common issue.

There are basically two solutions.

1) Install with the alternate cd > boot in recovery mode > install proprietary drivers via command line. (This is how I solved it for me)

2) Edit xorg.conf: Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,AUTO"

I have no experience with the second option but it seems easier.

Put Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,AUTO" in the device section of your etc/X11/xorg.conf and it works
thx

i think herd 5 didnt correct the problem, it got resolved later. the current feisty does not have that problem, as reported by multiple users. but herd 5 has it. wait for the next developer version of feisty to test again

Yes, the fix was put in around 7th of March, so it will be included in the next Thursday's 7.04 Beta.

yes, i can confirm the issue is resolved on ubuntu-7.04-beta-desktop-i386.iso. My screen doesn't turn off when booting... :D Congratulations, THX ;)
