The second one is nice and fit with the new Orange-Dapper feel. It might be cool to add in the gaim package as default.

If this is not useful, this bug must be marked as WONTFIX.

Could anybody mail the ubuntu-art mailing-list about that?

Hello Jones,
Thanks for the new Gaim Logo :-) Have you mailed the ubuntu-art mailing-list as Sebastien Bacher had suggested? Then can I please close this bug report. Thanks !

It looks very nice - I'll raise awareness of it on the ubuntu-art list.

These are great. The font on the "Gaim" word is a serif font though, i wonder if it would not look more ubuntu-ish if that were a sans-serif font?

Or maybe the ubuntu font?

If it didn't have the label "gaim" in it, I wouldn't have known it was for gaim! The two figures don't look anything like the "i" gaim-logo.

Maybe I'm being picky, but I'm not sure if logo's and stuff like that should be changed much. Isn't a logo meant to be a recognition point?

The logo is only shown the first time GAIM is used (or after logging out)...

But when accounts are configured and set to auto login, the logo isn't even displayed anymore...

I don't see the logo as a recognition point, but it's name. The new logo looks nicer, and still has the same styling. Two figures with an envelope between them with the GAIM letters spelled out.

Although I think the proposed version looks nice, I do not think that we should brand this splash screen. We haven't put any special "love" into it which would give us a reason to call it "Ubuntu Gaim".

Second logo, with ubuntu-style font, would be pretty cool to see in Gaim.

I agree with Kenneth. I think we should reject this bug, because the reporter has reported the bug in the old bugzilla on 2004-11-15 and we won't get any response any more. For all the others it would be better to improve the gaim logo itself.
