Bug Description

Binary package hint: libpam-foreground

I'm seeing this in my /var/log/syslog:

Mar 8 09:52:19 mail authdaemond: PAM unable to dlopen(/lib/security/pam_foreground.so)
Mar 8 09:52:19 mail authdaemond: PAM [dlerror: /lib/security/pam_foreground.so: undefined symbol:
pam_set_data]
Mar 8 09:52:19 mail authdaemond: PAM adding faulty module: /lib/security/pam_foreground.so

This has been reported by a number of other people in this thread: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=314270

The workaround is to comment out pam_foreground in /etc/pam.d/common-session.

I can confirm that this bug is present in Ubuntu 6.10 server.

I see this error in Ubuntu 7.04 Server amd64 with courier imap too:
