Bug Description
With kernel 2.6.12-10 and 2.6.15-20 (and probably others), I am not able to enable DMA on my hard drive.
$ sudo hdparm -d1 /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)
With a vanilla kernel from kernel.org (2.6.15.7), hard drive DMA works like it should.
I have a Intel Corporation 82440MX EIDE Controller (8086:7199) interface, and the piix module is loaded.

Looks like this chipset is not added to our piix. Ill create a patch tomorrow morning.

Hey, do we have any progress here? Does the issue still exist?

I am unable to test it since I haven't got this laptop anymore. It's probably safe to close the issue.
