Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-686

The distro kernels include hdaps support (thank you!) however we cannot freeze hard drives when a shock is detected.

Please add the queuefreeze patch to the kernel builds - note that it does not (fingers crossed :) affect people who do not choose to use it.

I've worked the patch to apply cleanly against 2.6.15 sources - see:

Probably not for edgy either. This is a pretty obtrusive patch and I'm not sure I want to toss something like this in so late.

I'll review it later and give you a final decision.

It's not likely we'll accept this. The patch was against 2.6.15, and likely wont apply cleanly. I tend to wonder why it hasn't been integrated upstream over the term of 4 kernel releases.

We aren't in the habit of taking in patches that touch core kernel functionality without good reason.

After evaluating the patch, it's just too extensive to include. Please ask the author to work on getting this into the mainline kernel.

Thanks

isn't it possbile to provide an alternative kernel-image or a loadable module for this in ubuntu? there are patches for newer kernel versions:

There seems to be a new, redesigned, patch which is maybe easier to intergrate ?

The HDAPS developers try to get the patch into the mainline kernel .. http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.hdaps.devel
