Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-4-generic

The kernel oopses when loading the sata_promise module. My board is a MSI K8T Neo2 - FIR and disabling the Promise Controller in the BIOS doesn't help. :-(

The only workaround to be able to boot seems to be:
rm /lib/modules/2.6.20-4-generic/kernel/drivers/ata/sata_promise.ko
update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.20-4-generic

I am having the same trouble, my pci card is pdc20575

problem exists in sarge, etch, and edgy.

running linux-2.6.20-5-server
and
EIP is at pdc_port_start+0x96/0xc0 [sata promise]
