[feisty] rt2x00 drivers completely broken

Bug Description

2.6.20-10 introduced some instability to rt2570 (Belkin F5D7050-2001uk) but rt73 works (D-Link DWL-G122 C1).

2.6.20-11 broke operation of rt2500usb (Belkin F5D7050-2001uk) and rt73usb (D-Link DWL-G122 C1) completely.

For 2.6.20-11 I can get the devices to associate with my AP occasionally but any data transfer fails (including DHCP negotiation of IP). The Link Quality, Signal and Noise values are always displayed as 0.

#92742 relates to PCI hardware. This bug relates to USB hardware.

Kernel 2.6.20-12 may fix things for rt2500 PCI-based adapters but I can confirm that adapters using rt2500usb and rt73usb are still non-functional.

Note to Ben Collins:

If the fix you committed is present in linux-image-2.6.20-12.20 then I'm afraid it doesn't work. The situation is still the same.

I think it's sort of the same bug I posted here

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rt2570/+bug/93345

Can someone please confirm?

thanx

I've tested 2.6.20-13.21 and rt2500usb and rt73usb are *still* non-functional. You can establish a link manually (nm-applet won't do it) but neither driver will associate with an access point.

I'm still using 2.6.20-9 to get wireless networking, with rt2570 and rt73, working with these devices.
