Hi Sebastien: I reject the bug, was not able to reproduce it and Synaptic right now works fine.

I wantet to refresh the list (reload the package informations) when the crash
happened

Thanks your bugreport.

I traced this bug to a problem in the reopenCache code. It hould be fixed fixed in my local tree and will be part of the 0.57.11.1ubuntu8 upload.

I uploaded synaptic_0.57.11.1ubuntu8 now and that should fix this problem. Please update and let me know if that resolves the problem. If not, please add a apport backtrace.
