UCBLOGO is the only cross-platform LOGO version to date & may be used to teach programming in a LISP-like language to kids. It has turtle graphics built in and a strong set of primitives to handle lists which can be used to manipulate text & symbols (like in a computer algebra system), but is easy to use & to learn though it is much more powerful as any BASIC lanuage version I ever heard of.
